Sport and International Relations | The 2025 International Conference on Sport History and Culture Successfully Concluded in Qufu

From October 11 to 13, 2025, the 2025 International Conference on Sport History and Culture was successfully held in Qufu, Shandong Province, China. The conference was co-hosted by the journal Asian Journal of Sport History & Culture (Taylor & Francis Group), Qufu Normal University, and the Asia-Pacific Association for Sport Studies (APASS).

With the theme “Sport and International Relations,” the conference attracted numerous experts and scholars from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania to gather in the hometown of Confucius. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the pivotal role of sport in international politics, economics, diplomacy, and culture, showcasing the global vision and scholarly depth of research in sport history and culture.

The conference was conducted primarily in English and featured in-depth discussions on a wide range of topics, including sport and the nation-state, sports diplomacy, governance of international sports organizations, sports migration and global governance, sport for international development and peace, and the global dissemination of traditional sports. Scholars explored the unique functions of sport within the international system from historical, social, political, and cultural perspectives, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and intellectual exchange in the field of sport history.
